Mentally ill patients visiting the emergency service department of the Prince of Wales Hospital will in the future be able to stay in the institution if they require overnight care, as part of its redevelopment plans.
Professor Philip Li Kam-tao, deputy chief executive of the hospital in Sha Tin, revealed the new service would be introduced following the completion of the first stage of its redevelopment project, estimated to cost around HK$32.9 billion, between 2025 and 2027.
