Hong Kong’s Hospital Authority will pay for the transfer of patients from overcrowded public hospitals to private ones in an arrangement that could become a long-term measure to cope with an influx of sick people, according to a senior health official.
Dr Ian Cheung, chief manager for cluster performance at the authority, which manages public hospitals in the city, said it would “buy the services” of private hospitals, but details were still to be discussed.
